QUESTION: I am
getting ready to paint the curbing in front of my fire hydrants.
What is the length of curbing that needs to be painted? Water
operator from Selbyville.
ANSWER: Dear water operator from
Selbyville, That is an excellent question, especially now the
nice weather is here and we are all starting to do some sprucing
up around our towns. Dr. WA. checked with the experts and found
that if your fire hydrant is located in the center of the
sidewalk, starting at the steamer, you need to paint 7 feet on
each side-a total of 14 feet. If the hydrant is located on the
corner of a sidewalk, then 14 feet in each direction from the
hydrant needs to be painted. Thanks for asking, and your tee
shirt is on the way!
