Jigar Patel, with a degree in Soil and Water Management, began his career in 1997 with the Delaware Rural Water Association. Over more than two decades, he served in a variety of roles including Wellhead Protection and Source Water Specialist, Circuit Rider, and Training Specialist, providing technical assistance, operator training, and regulatory support to water and wastewater systems throughout Delaware.
Following his retirement from DRWA, Jigar continued his service to the rural water industry by joining the National Rural Water Association in 2020 as a Roving Circuit Rider. In that role, he traveled across the United States, assisting utilities with technical challenges, operator training, and water system improvement initiatives.
In May 2026, Jigar returned to DRWA as a member of its Board of Directors, bringing nearly three decades of experience in water utility operations, source water protection, backflow prevention, and regulatory compliance. Having spent most of his career serving Delaware's water systems, he is proud to continue giving back to the organization where his professional journey began.
