This course will focus on OSHA 1910.146 confined space as well as 1910.147 lock out tag out requirements.    The classroom instruction (Day1) will include a Power Point presentation along with breakout sessions
demonstrating equipment. During the hands on portion (Day 2) attendees will participate in actual entries -
vertical, horizontal, etc.

This two (2) day course will cover entry, retrieval, monitoring ventilation, permitting and PPE requirements for safe and successful confined space work. The responsibilities of the entrant, attendant and supervisor are
also introduced and reviewed with respect to the above areas. All attendees are asked to bring safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves and hard hat.

Please note that you must attend both days to receive ECH's as partial credit will not be given.

Instructor's Bios

Chuck Snyder has been a member of the Fire Service for over 40 years in the State of Delaware. He is currently a life member of Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, with over 25  years as a Line Officer, having served as Fire Chief for 4 years. He is also an honorary member of the Lewes Fire Department. Chuck is a Field Instructor for the Delaware State Fire School for over 30 years teaching Fire, Rescue and EMS programs and is a Certified Delaware Firefighter II, Fire Officer II, and Delaware Instructor II along with being certified as National Pro-Board Fire Service Instructor II. He also hold certifications as a Trench Rescue Technician and Structural Rescue Technician, Confined Space Rescue Technician, FEMA ICS 400, American Heart Association CPR Instructor, and has trained to the EMT- B Level. Chuck was instrumental in helping with the development of the Rope & Rescue courses for the Delaware State Fire School, to include Confined Space and High Angle Rescue.

Bruce Galloway is a 40 year veteran of the fire service and was the Fire Chief at the DuPont Experimental Station for 18 years and the  Fire Chief at the Stine Haskell Research Center from 1985 to 1995. During his tenor as Fire Chief, Bruce has helped to write and review the permit required confined space programs for the DuPont sites at which he has worked. In addition to his career in industry he has also been a member of the Wilmington Manor Volunteer Fire Company were he has served as Captain, Assistant Chief, and Deputy Chief. Bruce has been a Level II Fire Service Instructor at the Delaware State Fire School for the past 22 years, where he teaches confined space rescue and hazardous materials response. In addition he holds the following certifications through the ProBoard Fire Service Professional Qualifications System: Instructor I & II, Fire Fighter I & II, Fire Officer I & II and Inspector I.

Wayne Hutchison his career in Emergency Services in 1964; during his career he has served as Fire Chief of the Townsend Fire Company and of the Dover Fire Department. He served as a field Medic in the United States Army from 1968 through 1970, at which time he was honorably discharged. He began his teaching career with the Delaware State fire School in 1978 and taught for them as a Field Instructor until 1986, at which time he became one of seven full time Senior Instructors. As a Senior Instructor at the Fire School he managed all of the EMS and Rescue programs. During his tenure at the fire school he assisted with writing the first lesson plan for Confined Space Rescue and designed the Confined Space Rescue Prop . Wayne retired from the Delaware State Fire School in 1996 and went on to work in Emergency Services and Safety until 2003 when he took a job as Deputy Fire Marshal for the City of Dover. In 2007 Wayne was promoted to the position of Emergency Management Coordinator for the City and severed as such until he retired in late 2010. He now does contract work for various agencies as a Safety Instructor. Wayne was a member of the State of DE Incident Management Team for over 10 years and currently holds the position of Deputy Chief of the Special Operations Unit for Kent county DE.
