Course Description

Participants will learn about the background, health effects, and regulatory requirements of EPA’s Proposed Perchlorate Rule. Using source documents and information from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) and EPA research and regulatory POV, this course will prepare water system operators for regulations proposed for 2030. Information about sampling schedules, monitoring, treatment, and public notification will be discussed in depth. Chemistry and interactions regarding perchlorate’s impact on the body will be presented, along with limiting exposure.
